Week 7 Story: Bhima Kills Kichaka and Does Some Landscaping Too
Figure 1: Bhima Wikimedia
"Bhima! Help me please!"
Draupadi swooned like a fair maiden, fainting helplessly, falling luxuriously onto a nearby plush coach, tears streamed down her face. It was the image of perfect feminine helplessness that can only be conjured by the mind of a sexist idiot who doesn't know what a comma splice is. Answering her call for help without a moment of hesitation, Bhima tears his shirt in rage and leaps to the door to meet Kichaka; Bhima's hulking steel body standing before with Kichaka's lean ropy one.
"Leave Her Alone"
Kichaka shifts his weight like a taunting cat, and his face contorts into a smile, a smile that sent a smug challenge.
"Oh... I think I won't"
Kichaka hooks Bhima with his left fist, and follows with a tight, compact right jab, but Bhima stands his ground, as Kichaka's blows were merely a test, and so Bhima replies in the only language that men like Kichaka understood. Bhima pulls back his right hand and shoulder, then brought the fist crashing forward sending Kichaka to the ground with a terrible thud. Kichaka rises from the ground, and begins to truly fight.
Kichaka smashes Bhima with such force to send him flying across the room. Bhima recovers just in time as Kichaka charges him again. Seizing Kichaka by the arm, Bhima throws him into the wall and strikes him with such force that Bhima is embedded in the wall. Bhima pounds Kichaka with such force that he shatters the wall and sends Kichaka flying through the air. Kichaka lands on his feet and charges Bhima again. He ducks left and right to avoid Bhima's fists and kicks Bhima in the thigh causeing him to fall to one knee. Kichaka the throws a series of punches at baffling speed, and as Bhima staggers back to defend himself, Kichaka jumps after him, folding his body as he winds up for a powerful kick before unfolding it and delivering maximum kinetic energy from his foot into Bhima's head.
Bhima's body slams into the ground, and Kichaka leaps onto him, but as he does so, Bhima wraps his legs around Kichaka's waist and rolls on top of his opponent, using his legs to force Kichaka aside and pushing himself on top of Kichaka. However, Bhima only manages to strike Kichaka twice before Kichaka seizes him by the shoulders and headbutts him, frees his legs, and kicks Bhima back.
Just as Kichaka manages to free himself. Bhima seizes one of his legs and throws him into an oak tree with such force that it the tree splinters. Before Kichaka can even regain his breath, Bhima is upon him again. Bhima punches Kichaka again, this time into a nearby boulder. Kichcaka rebounds off the boulder straight into Bhima's right fist. This time, Bhima sends Kichaka into the ground, shattering the earth as he does so.
Bhima rushes Kichaka again, but this time, Kichaka intercepts Bhima with a punch, sending him flying through the air before uprooting a boulder from the ground and hurling it at Bhima. Kichaka then charges Bhima, only for Bhima to kick out his legs from under him before taking him to the ground and casting him into a nearby pillar, smashing the wooden structure rocking the entire building. Kichaka rips the pillar from its foundation and crushes Bhima into the ground. But Bhima is not so easily defeated, and so he tears the entire foundation of the building out of the ground, a 10 acre slab of granite, and smites Kichaka with such force that the stone cracked. He smites Kichaka over and over, each blow lands with such force as to break a portion of the foundation until the foundation was no more.
Stunned, Kichaka stood there, unable to continue fighting. Bhima approached Kichaka, seizing him by the head and dragging him forward, then shattering his spine with a single punch. Bhima then wrapped his harms around Kichaka's neck, braced his feet against Kichaka's body and then pulled Kichaka's head off.

Author's note:
I thought that I'd rewrite the fight between Bhima and Kichaka for fun. I just took the initial fight and added some details, and made a joke about Draupadi. I decided to place the emphasis on the damage that these two do to the place around them as well as have some ridiculous imagery with Bhima hitting his opponent with a foundation.
Hi Jenon,
ReplyDeleteYour story was so entertaining. I felt as though the fight was greatly enhanced and wonderfully written. You really brought it to life and used such an impressive style. I can really feel the satire through your writing. I really enjoyed how you were able to to showcase this fight in a new light. It was hilarious to read and your inclusion of the damage done was greatly entertaining. I enjoyed reading your story and hope to come across more!

Hi Jenon! This is a very unique take on the interactions between Bhima and Kichaka. I felt as if I were watching a boxing or wrestling match as the two men confronted one another. It almost read like prosaic sports commentary, which provides an interesting contrast to the archaic setting of the epics. You might consider adding more details about Draupadi in the beginning; why has she fainted, and does she ever awaken during the fight?
ReplyDeleteHello Jenon! I loved your story here. You have a knack for descriptive imagery, it seems, but I could have probably told you that just from your introduction. I could feel the intensity of the fight between Bhima and Kichaka here. I think my favorite part, though, was the solid landscaping job performed by Bhima. He clearly has a better taste in decor than I ever thought he would. I mean, I didn't even think of ripping up the foundation, yet it works so well and adds a level of pizzazz to the room.
